From the top of the head, count down 13 rows of SC, then 2 SC to the right, and place a magenta pin. 

Count 5 SC to the left from the magenta pin and place a green pin. 

Weight the eyes using a long needle and nylon thread (or fishing line): insert the needle at the red point, bring it out at the magenta one, then insert it at the green point and bring it out next to the red point, tighten the thread, tie several knots, and hide the ends inside the head. 

Stage 6. Skirt. 

Make the skirt from lace in your chosen color. 

Turn the snowman’s body upside down and sew the lace using matching yarn through the loops left from the 20th row of crocheting (where you worked in the back loop only). Attach the lace with a whipstitch, creating small folds 3 – 5 mm wide. After sewing the lace completely, turn the snowman’s body right side up and spread out the skirt. 

Stage 7. Decoration and Assembly. 

Take 16mm diameter safety eyes and glue false eyelashes to the back side of them (see photo 1). 

Insert the eyes into the eye weighting spots and glue them to the head using transparent super glue (see photo 2). 

Glue (or sew, if you have a knitted one) the carrot-shaped nose (see photo 3). 

Embroider a smile using brown “Iris” or “Mouline” thread (see photo 4). 

Place the arms on the sides of the body, positioning them 1 – 2 rows below the neck (see photos 5 – 6). 

Sew the arms in place (see photo 7). 

Place the legs at the bottom center of the body (see photo 8). 

Sew the legs in place (see photo 9). 

The snowman is assembled (see photo 10), now it’s time to dress it up. 

Stage 8. Scarf. 

Crochet with yarn in the color you chose for the clothing (mine is lilac).

MATERIALS

BANNER

Red polka dotted ribbon | White sewing thread | Sewing needle

To make the banner, I cut five triangles out of a red polka dotted ribbon and did a quick running stitch across all five pieces. Make sure you leave a long tail on both ends of the banner. Now thread one of the tails on a sewing needle and lightly tack it to one of the hands. Repeat these steps on the other hand to secure banner.

MATERIALS

STAND

A tuna can | Light worsted weight yarn in blue | 2.5 mm crochet hook | Silver ribbon | Yarn needle

The base is made from an empty tuna can turned upside down and covered with a cozy.

Step 1: Open the tuna can and make a tuna sandwich.

Step 2: Wash and dry the can.

Step 3: Reward yourself for a job well done with the sandwich you made (refer to step 1).

Step 4: Take out your yarn and hook and start crocheting a cozy for your stand.

Assembling the Stand

Since you and I may not be buying the same brand of tuna, can size may vary.

Hence, I will tell you how to customize it according to your requirements. First, work a flat circle, using multiples of eight (and joining the last st of the round to the first st with a slip stitch) till you get the desired circumference. For example:

Round 1: 8 dc in a magic ring.

Round 2: 2 dc in each st around. (16)

Round 3: (Dc 1, 2 dc in the next st) X 8. (24)

Round 4: (Dc 2, 2 dc in the next st) X 8. (32)

Round 5: (Dc 3, 2 dc in the next st) X 8. (40)

…and so on till it covers the flat surface of the can.

Then dc a round in BLO without increasing.

After this, continue working in dc until you get the desired height. If you want the cozy to cover the rim, which is now going to be the base of your stand, work another round of dc in BLO.

Cut out a circle from a piece of cardboard, insert wire though it as shown in the illustration and tape wire to cardboard. Now tape cardboard to the can and carefully slip the crocheted cozy over it, making sure not to disturb the wires. Push the upright wires through snowman’s legs.

Thread a length of silver ribbon through a large eyed, run it in and out through a dc, skip three dc*. Repeat * to ** till you reach the beginning. Tie a bow.

Now sit back and admire your snowman.

*When using the specified yarn and hook, the height of the toy  is 22 cm/ 8.66 inches.

Continue to knit one row with 42 sc black yarn in a circle behind the back walls of the loops.  

We attach the yarn “Pekhorka” “Children’s novelty” color 490-boxwood and knit 7 rows 42 sc in a circle.  

Note: to form a felt boot, in this case, SLIMMING means: sc, skip 1 loop.  

We knit a felt boot as follows: 15 sc; (dec) -5 times; 31 sc; (dec) – 4 times; 27 sc; (dec) – 4 times; 25 sc; (dec) – 2 times; 26 sc; dec. Next, knit 4 rows of 26 sc in a circle.  

Fasten knitting, cut and hide the thread.  

Apply a small layer of Moment Crystal glue to one side of the cardboard part, spread it over the entire surface and glue it to the bottom of the felt boot.  

Fill the product tightly with padding polyester.  

Assembling a snowman  

Sew (glue) beady eyes, a carrot nose, a cylinder to the head. Sew boots and head (glue) to the body.
